City of Bridgeportís Pick-Up of

Leaves, Brush, Branches & Grass Clippings

  • The City of Bridgeportís Roadway Division picks up leaves, brush, branches and grass clippings year-round from residentís curb-side on your streetís designated recycling day. The pick-up schedule is weather permitting.  Occasionally crews can fall behind schedule because of weather or personnel constraints, and residentís patience is urged. Leaves, brush and grass-clippings are to be placed in brown paper recyclable bags. No plastic bags. Branches should be no more than 4 feet in length and tied in twine.

  • During the fall season only, residents can also rake leaves onto the grassy area between sidewalk & curb for bulk loose leaf pick-up. This usually goes from mid-November until mid-December, weather permitting. The city has 3 crews who do this. One works the Black Rock area starting from the town line working eastward to west end and south end neighborhoods. Two crews are deployed to the North End town line between Park & Main to start. One crew works east and another crew goes south‎. The crews are strategically deployed to first service the heavier leafed neighborhoods (upper North End, Lake Forest, Treeland, Beardsley Park, Brooklawn & Black Rock). Once those sections are completed, the crews target the east side/east end, lower north end, west end/south end, and finally down town.

  • Residents can also bring these materials to the City of Bridgeportís Transfer Station located at 475 Asylum Street, Monday-Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm and Saturday 7 am -12 pm. Any large amounts of brush should be brought to the transfer-station.

The city promotes house-hold recycling of grass-clippings. For more information on how to do that, click here to go to this CT DEEP link.
